Weekend News

What a weekend for our members! With the Scottish Outdoor Championships taking place, several of our archers took on the gruelling 1440 round, shooting over both days. πŸ’ͺ

πŸ‘ Paul had a fantastic weekend, taking Bronze on Saturday and Silver on Sunday in the Barebow Open Novice 50+ category. A brilliant example of keeping your nerve, digging deep and finishing strongly over the full distance.

πŸ‘ Our associate members also had a great weekend:

● Lawrence – Silver on Saturday and Bronze on Sunday in the Barebow Novice 50+ category.

● Gregor – Bronze in the Barebow Open category.

🏹 Fiona, now a qualified County Judge, was also busy putting her newly gained skills into practice at the Scottish Outdoor Championships. Congratulations, Fiona!

Meanwhile, three of our Compound archers travelled to the other end of the country to attend the first Compound Training Day at the Performance Archery Centre (PAC) in Lilleshall.

It was a fantastic opportunity to visit the centre, train and speak with some of the UK’s top Compound coaches. There were plenty of learning points and training ideas that we can bring back and adapt throughout the club. Hopefully, this will be the first of many such events!

🏹 Back on home turf, our juniors Ava and Grace continued working on their form while also chatting about their future goals. Introducing simple goal-setting with juniors is a great way to help them think about where they want their archery to take them.

Meanwhile, Laura continued working with her coach Bill, focusing not only on her shooting but also on another important part of archery β€” equipment maintenance! πŸ”§πŸΉ

A huge thank you to Bill for giving up his time, helping archers throughout the session and proving that sometimes you just need to think outside the box to solve those tricky kit problems!

As always, the club couldn’t function without our fantastic volunteers and members. Thank you to everyone who gives their time, shares their knowledge and works together to make our sessions enjoyable and supportive for everyone. ❀️

What a weekend! Well done everyone! πŸ‘πŸΉ

πŸ₯‰ Bronze – Home Nations Team with Cairn

πŸ₯‰ Bronze – Individual

A fantastic achievement and a great reward for all the hard work and dedication Olivia has been putting into her shooting! πŸ‘πŸΉ

🎯 Wigan & Orrell Archers WA720 & H2H

We also had three PSCAC archers competing at the Wigan & Orrell Archers WA720 and H2H, with Laura shooting Recurve competing in U21 and compounders Craig and Alastair taking on the 50+ and Senior categories respectively.

πŸ’ͺ Laura had an extremely challenging day, dealing with both equipment and form issues. However, she showed great determination and resilience to keep battling through.

A massive thank you to the archery hive mind around her for the help, advice and encouragement throughout the day β€” and a special shout-out to Charlotte and Maree for her fantastic support and for looking after Laura. ❀️

Despite everything she had to overcome, Laura finished πŸ₯‡ Gold in U21 Recurve , ranking 5th overall β€” an outstanding result given the challenges she faced!

πŸ† Craig also battled through a tough shoot and came away with πŸ₯ˆ Silver in 50+, finishing 2nd in his category and 10th overall. Another fantastic result!

πŸ“ˆ Alastair continues to see his qualification scores improve throughout the season, showing some really positive progress. Unfortunately, he was unlucky in a closely fought H2H, but there are plenty of positives to take forward.

It was also brilliant to catch up with our good friends at Unstrung Archery, who continue to provide fantastic support to archers across the country. Always great to see you! πŸ‘‹πŸΉ

A huge thank you to the field party and organisers for the smooth running of the event and, of course, for the unexpected but very welcome appearance of the ice cream van! πŸ¦πŸ˜‚

Well done to everyone who represented PSCAC this week β€” some fantastic shooting, plenty of resilience and, most importantly, great support between archers. 🏹❀️

🏹 Archery GB 50+ Championships – Evesham 🏹

Prestwick St Cuthbert Archery Club was well represented at this weekend’s Archery GB 50+ Championships in Evesham, with members competing against some of the country’s best senior archers.

🎯 Compound Open 50+

Alastair Shields finished 27th in qualification with a score of 601 before progressing to the head-to-heads, where he secured an excellent 28th overall.

Maree Shields unfortunately had to withdraw during qualification  due to an injury.

🏹 Barebow Open 50+

Craig Burns qualified 28th with 481 and produced a determined performance in the elimination rounds to climb to 14th overall.

Club associate member Lawrence Clements qualified 26th on 492 and finished 30th overall after the head-to-head matches.

Well done to all our archers for representing the club on the national stage. Every competition provides valuable experience, and it’s fantastic to see Prestwick St Cuthbert competing alongside the best 50+ archers in Great Britain. πŸ‘πŸΉ

Congratulations to Fiona Acamovic on Achieving Judge Qualification

Prestwick St Cuthbert Archery Club is delighted to congratulate Fiona Acamovic on successfully qualifying as an County Level Judge.

Fiona has dedicated many hours to training, mentoring and gaining practical experience at competitions across the Uk. Her commitment has now been rewarded, and she has already begun officiating at tournaments, helping to ensure competitions are run safely, fairly and in accordance with the Rules of Shooting.

Everyone at the club is incredibly proud of Fiona’s achievement. We look forward to seeing her continue to support archery, both within our club and at competitions throughout the UK.

Congratulations, Fiona, on this fantastic milestone!

Scottish Tour Stage 2

The Ayr 2026 Scottish Archery Tour Stage 2 was an excellent event for Prestwick St Cuthbert Archery Club’s Barebow Open archers.

Craig Burns produced the standout result of the competition, winning the Barebow Open category after qualifying in 3rd place. His improvement between the two qualification rounds and his eventual first-place finish demonstrate his ability to perform at a high level in a competitive field.

Paul Seditas also produced an excellent qualification performance, finishing 4th with 500 points and demonstrating a high level of consistency across both rounds. Although the final ranking did not reflect his strong qualification position, the experience gained from competing through the final stage will provide valuable learning for future competitions.

With both Prestwick St Cuthbert archers qualifying in the top four, the event demonstrates the growing strength of the club’s Barebow programme and its ability to compete successfully at  Tour level.

Well done to both !

Weekend Round Up

🏹 Weekend Round-Up 🏹

It has been another busy weekend for Prestwick St Cuthbert Archery Club, with members representing the club across the UK.

πŸ₯‡ Thor travelled to Banchory for a Double FITA Star, putting in two fantastic days of shooting to take Gold in the U14 Barebow category. Congratulations on a brilliant achievement!

πŸ₯‡ Olivia headed south to Ashington for JAS Stage 4, where she also brought home Gold in the Compound Youth Women category. A fantastic performanceβ€”well done!

βš–οΈ Fiona spent the weekend in Cumbria, continuing her judging journey by officiating at a Clout tournament as part of her Judge training. Great to see our volunteers developing their skills and supporting the sport.

🏹 Meanwhile, back at the club, our latest group of beginners continue to make excellent progress, building confidence and developing their skills every week.

Congratulations to everyone on another successful weekend.

Whether you’re competing, officiating, coaching or taking your very first shots, every achievement helps make our club the welcoming and inclusive community it is. πŸ’™πŸ’›

Inclusive Archery

🏹 A rewarding weekend of learning and development! 🏹

Club members Aimee and Craig recently attended a Disability Coaching Weekend, focused on making archery more accessible and inclusive for disabled individuals and groups interested in trying our sport.

Throughout the weekend, they explored a variety of ways to adapt equipment and coaching practices to support disabled archers. There was plenty of hands-on learning, problem-solving, and a fair bit of trial and error while creating and testing adaptive equipmentβ€”but the results were incredibly rewarding! πŸ’‘πŸŽ―

A huge thank you to Archery GB coaches Nat and Phil for delivering such an informative and engaging course on behalf of Scottish Archery.

We’d also like to thank Fletchers Trust for their support in making the course possible.

We’re looking forward to putting what we’ve learned into practice and helping make archery accessible to everyone! πŸ’™πŸΉ

Back at the club the final Come and Try session took place. Many thanks again the club volunteers supporting these sessions.

Come and Try Session

🏹✨ Another Busy Weekend for the Club! ✨🏹

A huge well done to Craig B who travelled to Elgin for the Inter-Area Competition. Craig put in a strong performance, qualifying 3rd and 4th in his events and finishing πŸ₯‡ 1st place as part of the Mixed Team Barebow Tier 2 team. Fantastic shooting! πŸ‘πŸŽ―

Also in Elgin, Fiona was continuing her journey towards becoming a judge, gaining valuable experience as part of her judging qualification. Well done and good luck on the next steps! πŸ“‹πŸΉ

Back at the outdoor range, it was an early start for members who were busy painting and freshening up the range facilities. A big thank you to everyone who helped out! πŸŽ¨πŸ”¨πŸ‘

The day then moved on to the first of this block’s Come and Try sessions. It was great to welcome so many new faces, including some very promising young archers and a number of families who quickly discovered their competitive streak! πŸ˜„πŸΉπŸŽ―

A fantastic weekend of archery, volunteering, learning, and community spirit. Well done to everyone involved! 🏹
